Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Job Description:

Fast-Paced Indianapolis law firm seeks experienced paralegal/legal assistant. Ciyou & Associates, P.C. is a boutique family law firm located in downtown Indianapolis, IN. We are seeking a paralegal/legal assistant to join our dynamic and growing firm. Candidates should have family law experience, ideally in a private firm setting. This position will be responsible for client screening and intake, which requires an understanding of family law and the ability to connect and meet the clients where they are. As part of this, you will maintain the firm’s calendar, create and maintain all client files. Successful candidates will have experience with CLIO and be responsible for client billing and collections. Client intake, billing and collections are vital to the firm’s success, making this position critical to both clients and your colleagues. You possess an ability to maintain confidences as well as build confidences and trust with clients, attorneys and peers.

Salary commensurate with experience. Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen potential clients to ensure their legal needs and circumstances are a good fit for the firm, while ensuring the client feels heard and understood
  • Manage client billing, collections, firm billable hours, AP, AR, etc.
  • Aid attorneys with drafting court documents, filing and service of process
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, independently obtain and organize case files)
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Work as part of a team
  • Maintain routine communications with clients and attorneys about case status and preparation

Qualifications:

  • A paralegal with at least 2 year of family law experience
  • Ability to be flexible, handle pressure and adapt to changing work priorities, workflow and work assignments
  • You are personable and professional, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Extremely organized, know how to prioritize tasks, not only for themselves but as a close teammate with the attorney(s) they support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with exceptional attention to detail
  • You possess common sense and problem-solving skills
  • Responsive and adaptable start-up experience and/or interest is preferred
